SafeRock attends Saudi Food Futures 2023

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) held the workshop for Saudi Food Futures at MEWA’s headquarters from October 22nd-25th, 2023. SafeRock’s CEO Shah Karim was honored to attend this event.

During his opening remarks, His Excellency Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley emphasized that the future of sustainable food security in Saudi Arabia relies on scientific research and innovation. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts and the exchange of experiences to reach this goal. He also highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing partnerships with academic institutions, which have contributed to shaping the agricultural sector through the promotion of innovation and research.

KAUST President Tony Chan pointed out the crucial role of cooperation between MEWA and KAUST on matters of significant national interest, highlighting how it aligns with the core mission and purpose for which KAUST was established.

The workshop’s discussions centered around the heightened risk that the food system faces due to climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource scarcity. In addition, the panels discussed strategies, policies, investments, and innovations related to sustainable cropping system development and various other aspects.
